Cloud Protection is another new addition to the Win AVPro family.  This newer strain has started bundling in rootkits along with it’s other related fake antivirus definitions.  It’s blocking capabilities of legitimate removal software and graphical interface have been upgraded.  Our research team has classified this infection as Rogue Anti-Spyware.

What is Cloud Protection

Cloud Protection shows fake scan results on your computer screen to trick you into believing your computer is infected.  Its number one goal is to dupe customers into purchasing their fake software.  Do not purchase it or attempt to purchase it as it can also steal your credit card information and other personal information.

Cloud Protection will perform a security check on its own and shows self made or fake scan results on your computer. It will show certain infections as harmful threats and you will not be able to remove them unless you purchase this fake antivirus. You need to understand that these results will popup no matter how clean your computer is.

Cloud Protection is a carefully crafted rogue and it configures Windows to use it’s own Proxy Servers. You may find your most trusted sites marked as malicious or potentially harmful and you may see security alerts on those web pages.

Step by Step Removal Instructions for Cloud Protection 

1. Start Windows in safe mode by rebooting your system.  You can do this by rebooting your system and hitting the F8 button upon the reboot.

2. Start Internet Explorer and go to Menu > Tools > Internet options. Click the connections tab and select LAN settings.  In the LAN Settings, go to proxy server and uncheck “Use proxy server for your LAN”.  Now your browsing should be resumed without the interruption of Cloud Protection.

3. Download Malwarebytes by clicking on the following link:  Click Here to Start Removing Cloud Protection

4. Save the file to your desktop.

5. After you see the file saved to the desktop, close all open windows and applications running on the computer.

6. Locate the Malwarebytes file on your desktop and run it. (the file name is called mbam-setup.exe)

7. Once the installation starts, the options Update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should be left checked. (this will make sure you get the latest version of Malwarebytes upon installation)

8. Malwarebytes will now launch.  Once you see the Malwarebytes interface, go ahead and Perform a Full Scan.

9. After the full scan is complete, you can start the removal process of Cloud Protection.

10. Click the Remove Selected button and allow Malwarebytes to start the removal process.

11. After the removal process is done, close the Malwarebytes interface.

12. Reboot your computer; you have successfully removed Cloud Protection from your system.
